About Wandering Shepherd

Wandering Shepherd is a western Kansas livestock startup building rugged animal-health technology that works in real ranch conditions. Our wireless rumen bolus helps cattle producers detect health issues early, improve performance, and reduce losses. We’re growing fast and need a relationship-driven sales rep who knows cattle country and wants to help modernize how herds are managed.

What You’ll Do

  • Producer-Facing Sales
    • Build relationships with cow-calf operators, stocker outfits, and feedlots across the region.
    • Learn each operation’s goals and pain points, then match our solution to real ROI.
    • Run on-ranch and in-yard demos of the bolus system and dashboard.
    • Guide customers through onboarding, first deployment, and early wins.
  • Territory & Pipeline
    • Own a defined territory and manage your pipeline from lead → close → renewal.
    • Track activity, keep follow-ups tight, and move deals forward.
    • Attend industry events, sale barns, meetings, and conferences to generate leads.
    • Identify high-value prospects and build multi-year account potential.
  • Customer Success & Feedback Loop
    • Be the voice of the customer internally — share field insights with product and ops.
    • Help troubleshoot early issues and ensure customers feel supported.
    • Spot usage patterns and opportunities for expansion inside accounts.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong people skills and the ability to earn trust fast with producers.
  • Comfort selling a technical product in a practical, no-BS way.
  • Self-starter: you plan your week, chase opportunities, and don’t need hand-holding.
  • Organized with basic CRM discipline (notes, follow-ups, deal stages).
  • Willingness to travel frequently by truck across rural territory.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Nice to Have

  • Background in livestock production, animal health, nutrition, or ag equipment sales.
  • Existing network with ranchers and feedlot managers.
  • Experience selling subscription or hardware + service products.
  • Familiarity with cattle health/performance metrics and producer ROI thinking.
